Han Liu and Arend Kuyper Join the Faculty
Han Liu, Associate Professor of Statistics and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, will join the faculty on September 1, 2018. He uses computation and data as a lens to explore science and intelligence.
Arend Kuyper, Assistant Professor of Instruction, joined the faculty in September 2017, focusing on the development and application of statistical methods in education and the Department's Data Science initiatives.
Elizabeth Tipton joins the Faculty
Elizabeth Tipton will join the Faculty as Associate Professor of Statistics and Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) on September 1, 2018. Tipton's research focuses on the development of statistical methods and tools for making ‘causal generalizations’.

Professor Larry Hedges was recently awarded the Sells Award for Distinguished Contributions to Multivariate Research by the Society for Multivariate Experimental Psychology in 2014.

Professor Sandy Zabell has been elected to serve on the Washington, DC Department of Forensic Science Advisory Board, 2014.
Professor Sandy Zabell has been selected by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology to be a member of its DNA Analysis Subcommittee, which supports the development of forensic science by the development of standards and guidelines.
