Declaring the Major in Statistics
The Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) for Statistics, Professor Sandy Zabell, is the main adviser for undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Statistics. If you have questions about the major/minor in Statistics, completing your major/minor in Statistics, or if you need signatures from the DUS for Statistics, please contact Professor Zabell at zabell@math.northwestern.edu

To declare a major or minor in statistics
Please follow these directions:
- Contact Professor Zabell at zabell@math.northwestern.edu to set up a mutually convenient advising appointment time. Appointments may be virtual or in person.
- Download and complete the Major Declaration Form from https://www.weinberg.northwestern.edu/undergraduate/major-minor/choosing-declaring.html or the Minor Declaration Form from https://www.weinberg.northwestern.edu/undergraduate/major-minor/minor-and-certificate-options/rules-policies.html
- Send the completed declaration form and a copy of your unofficial transcript to Professor Zabell before your scheduled appointment.
To set up a general advising appointment
Please follow these directions:
- Contact Professor Zabell at zabell@math.northwestern.edu to set up a mutually convenient advising appointment time. Appointments may be virtual or in person.
- Include the reason for requesting the appointment in the email (ex: questions about the major/minor, degree progress advising, petition to graduate, etc.)
- Send Professor Zabell any information or forms he requests before your scheduled appointment.
Please note, students interested in declaring a major or minor in Data Science must follow the declaration process specific to the Data Science major or the minor.
