MS Program Application
Application to the Master of Science in Statistics Degree Program
The applications requires students to complete a plan of study outlining the courses they anticipate taking to complete the MS program and briefly outline ideas for a culminating activity project as well as complete the required TGS Application for Ad Hoc Combined Degree. The student must receive approval of their plan of study from the Director of Graduate Studies their home department, their advisor, and the Department of Statistics Master of Science Program Director, Professor Elizabeth Tipton. Before starting the application process, students should review the TGS Ad Hoc combined degree requirements to make sure they are eligible to pursue the degree.
Students must apply for the Master of Science in Statistics Degree Program PRIOR to starting coursework in the Department of Statistics. A maximum of two STAT classes can be taken before applying to participate in the MS program. Students who take more than two STAT classes before applying may be ineligible to pursue the degree. Steps to applying for the Master of Science in Statistics Degree Program:
Step 1: Confirm you are eligible to pursue an Ad Hoc combined degree by reviewing the information on the TGS Ad Hoc combined degree requirements page, then download and complete the Master of Science in Statistics Degree Program Application. Please note this application requires you to complete both the MS in Statistics Application form and the TGS Application for Ad Hoc Combined Degree.
Step 2: Meet with your Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) and your Advisor to review the plan, discuss timeline, make any needed changes, and receive DGS and Advisor statements and signatures of approval.
Step 3: Once the DGS and Advisor signatures of approval have been acquired, contact the Department of Statistics Master of Science Program, Elizabeth Tipton at firstname.lastname@example.org, to schedule an advising appointment with Professor Tipton.
Step 4: Meet with the Department of Statistics Master of Science Program Director, Elizabeth Tipton, to review the plan, discuss timeline, make any needed changes, and receive approval to pursue a Master of Science in Statistics degree.
Step 5: If approved by the Statistics MS Program Director, the Statistics administrator, Kisa Kowal, will give the application to the Statistics DGS for their signature on the TGS portion of the application.
Step 6: The Dept. of Statistics will send a copy of your approved application to you, your advisor, and your DGS and submit it to TGS.
